What we do

Horse Therapy

At horse therapy the students of Bridge House Primary have enjoyed a range of activities, from leading the horses to grooming and feeding them. Our pupils take part in horse therapy weekly in small groups on a six week rotation. As a result, the pupils get a personal experience in caring for and forming bonds with the horses they work with.

Sport at Fenside Community Centre

Bridge House offers an off-site weekly PE session at Fenside Community Centre. During these lessons the children take part in a wide variety of sports and games. The sessions will guide the pupils through the process of building the hand eye coordination and team cooperation which will serve them well in later school and adult life.

Every week, the children take part in whole school swimming lessons. They are separated into groups to assure the lesson is pitched to our pupil’s ability. Pupils work towards Swim England certificates, gaining life-saving skills and water-safety knowledge.

All classes at Bridge House have really enjoyed taking part in cookery lessons as part of our whole school topics. We have made bread and butter pudding, pizza, sausage rolls, lemon cakes, apple crumble and cheese straws. The children have written out the recipes and measured the ingredients. They have all really enjoyed taking the cooking home to share with their families.

The children in all classes take part in music lessons with Mr Jackson. Some pupils’ music lessons take place as a whole class and some are individualised interventions based on the needs of the pupil. Scampton class have shown a particular interest in playing musical instruments and singing along to their favourite song- Shotgun by George Ezra.

Therapy Dogs

At our Primary School, children have the opportunity to spend time with Tula and Tyla. They are used to calm and relax, with children helping to care for them through grooming, walking and teaching them commands.

Me Rewards and Bonuses

At Bridge House, one reward system in place for pupils is Me Rewards. Pupils work daily towards gaining points for achieving personalised and achievable targets set for them. Pupils can work towards different rewards by earning different amounts of points. Once they have reached their chosen target, they are able to go to a place of their choice for food, take part in an activity in or out of school or purchase an item.

This academic year so far, pupils have chosen to use their Me Reward point to go on trips to Burger Kind, McDonalds, Soft Play centres and Bowling as well as purchasing items like footballs, books and much more.

Alongside Me Rewards, our pupils earn bonuses throughout the day for hard work, making good choices and completing super learning! Bonuses then are used to purchase items of their choosing. Popular purchases have included: nail art sets, aqua beads, play doh, LOL Dolls, books and much more.
